The team behind the cult favourite Rita’s made the difficult decision to close their site in King’s Cross earlier this year, but now they’re making a return right in the centre of Soho. With the restaurant set to launch in early 2021, in the meantime founders Missy Flynn and Gabriel Pryce are opening the doors to a pop-up bottle shop and deli at the site on Lexington Street.
“We’re essentially squatting in our own restaurant!” said Flynn, as they’ve brought the fixtures from Bodega Rita’s Kings Cross out of storage to launch Bodega Rita’s Bottle Shop. The shop will sell a selection of natural, low intervention and biodynamic wines alongside a selection of deli items, pre-mixed cocktails. If you’re in the area, you can also drop by for a mulled wine, coffee or poncho de vino Tinto, a hot Mexican red wine punch.
If you’re yet to buy your Christmas gift, the team has just launched Social Bubbles, a sparkling wine gifting service, ranging from £20 to £90, as well as its customers gift boxing delivery service You Shop We Ship. There’s also Christmas hampers filled with a selection of wines, stuffing mix, chutneys and festive treats. We like the sound of the sandwich king hamper, with spiced mayo, jalepeno relish, sandwich spreaders and more.
Bodega Rita’s Bottle Shop will be open from 11am to 8pm up until Christmas Day, and we’ll share more details of the restaurant opening when we have them.
