Camden pop-up Mr Ji is opening a permanent site on Old Compton Street. Launching on 20 November, Mr Ji will offer Taiwanese crispy fried chicken, dusted with flavourful powders, alongside oriental fruit teas.
The Ji’s are dusted with a range of flavourings, including Traditional spice, Thai ketchup and Korean BBQ, so there is something to suit everyone’s taste. These are accompanied by Mini Ji’s- bite-sized pieces of marinated thigh meat tossed in a range of house made sauces. Also on offer is a selection of side dishes, such as house fries and crunchy Taipei slaw with ginger and chili.
Founded by Samuel Haim, the restaurant will use 100% free range chicken throughout the whole menu. Their hero dish, the Big Ji, a butterflied chicken breast, brined, coated in gluten-free sweet potato flour and deep fried, is not to miss.
The drinks menu consists of Taiwanese teas, rotating on a seasonal basis, which can also be blended with spirits for those looking for something a little stronger.
Commenting on the opening, owner Samuel Haim said ‘I’m looking forward to bringing my modern take on Taiwanese fried chicken to Old Compton Street, using fantastic quality chicken and punchy powders.’
Mr Ji will open on November 20 at 72 Old Compton Street, Soho, London, W1D 4UN. To celebrate the opening, they will be giving away 100 Big Ji’s on a first come first serve basis.
