After four months of empty streets and closed doors, it was great to see people out and about last night and enjoying restaurants, pubs and bars no matter the weather. With the return of hospitality comes news of openings to look forward to, and today the team behind the brilliant Crispin in Spitalfields has announced it will launch ‘Bar Crispin’.
Opening this summer on Kingly Street right behind Liberty, Bar Crispin will be foremost a natural wine bar, with more than 150 wines on the list curated by in-house sommelier Stefano Cazzato (previously of Hakkassan, Della Terra and Londrino). There will also be a bar snack and small plate offering from head chef Naz Hassan and consultant executive chef Tom Cenci, served from lunchtime into the evening.
The 42-cover bar – including an outdoor terrace and private dining room – will serve breakfast pastries and coffee from Assembly Roast, and later cheese and charcuterie to enjoy alongside a glass of wine. We’re told the wine list will ‘focus on old world and indigenous grape varietals, and small indie producers.’ There will also be monthly wine events, including tastings or pairings.
Guests can expect the bar to have a retro feel, with the interiors drawing inspiration from 1980s Soho. “We launched the Crispin wine club in late 2020, which has been a real hit with our customers, so it seems fair that our next site should continue this focus on wine, alongside a knockout bar snack menu,” says founder Dominic Hamdy.
