New terraces to try in London

It might not be as warm as this time last year (typical), but that’s luckily not stopping people heading back to their favourite hospitality spot. Indoor dining won’t be allowed until May at the earliest, so restaurants are getting creative with their outdoor spaces and creating new terraces and rooftops for guests to enjoy.

First up, The Standard Rooftop bar launches on 1 May, aiming to bring “the vibe on New York’s iconic rooftop bars to London.” With great views over St Pancras, the open-air rooftop bar is located on the hotel’s 10th floor. Come summer, The Standard’s music programme will return with cocktails on tap.

Another hotel launching a new terrace, The Macallan Manor House at Rosewood London has had a makeover, with an updated outdoor terrace set to open for six months over summer. In partnership with whisky brand The Macallan, the terrace is designed to look like a riverside boathouse, and food will be provided by Holborn Dining Room.

For those returning to the office or heading into the city, D&Ds 14 Hills is taking over a space in the buildings 15th-floor rooftop garden. There is space for 50 diners, views across London and dishes such as Colchester crab cocktail and bobs monkfish tail with prosciutto to look forward to.

Meanwhile, the much-loved Indian restaurant Jamavar has just launched its new, intimate summer terrace with space for eight guests. For something slightly bigger, Sicilian restaurant Tavolino has launched its riverside terrace seating up to 100 people, complete with olive trees and wicker chairs.

FOLIE on Golden Square has also upgraded its terrace ready for reopening, celebrating ‘the dining and drinking culture of the Riviera.’ The team has created a new spring menu, with dishes including lamb shoulder with confit garlic, octopus carpaccio and day boat fish.
