Manzi’s, with a name in homage to the former Soho much-loved fish restaurant of that name, was first announced in April last year – and now Jeremy King has shared more details of the next opening from Corbin & King.
Manzi’s will be a pescatarian restaurant serving a fish and seafood menu, alongside plant-based options, when it opens in Soho in May. The restaurant marks the eighth London venture for the group behind The Wolseley and The Delaunay. It states that similar to its restaurant Brasserie Zédel, Manzi’s will be fun and affordable.
Located at 1 Bateman’s Buildings, the vast 241-cover restaurant is set over two floors, alongside a large outside covered terrace with an additional 44 covers. Design sketches by Brady Williams feature a large dining room with a nautical theme, and windows on both sides of the dining room. Whilst it’s not on the same site as the original Manzi’s restaurant, King says it will “be in tribute to the long lamented Leicester Square forefather that so many of us mourned its passing.”
“It’s a remarkable building to find in the middle of Soho and not only is it similar in size to Brasserie Zédel (over two floors)” says King, “but it’s blessed with windows on both sides of the Dining Room for great light and this very brightens and airiness was very influential in determining it to be a pescatarian restaurant.”
A new City launch in the old House of Fraser on the north side of London Bridge and a Notting Hill Gate venture are up next for the group…
