Langan’s to reopen on 30 October

Legendary London restaurant Langan’s is to reopen on 30 October with a reimagined look. The red neon sign is still there, but otherwise the acclaimed interior designer Peter Mikic has given it a total overhaul.

The restaurant, which was originally founded by Peter Langan and Sir Michael Caine in 1976, plans to bring back “all of the elegance and eccentricity of the original brasserie,” and return the restaurant “to the forefront of London culture.”

Back in the 1970s and ’80s, the restaurant attracted the city’s A-listers. The likes of Mick Jagger and David Bowie were regulars. In recent years, Lagan’s had somewhat fallen off the grid.

The sage green palette dining room will include a dedicated seafood bar and a listed staircase that leads guests down to a new invite-only late lounge.

Graziano Arricale and James Hitchen, who are leading the relaunch, said: “We are so proud to be bringing the new and reimagined Langan’s to London.

“We look forward to creating a real hub for locals, along with those from the worlds of fashion, art, film and music to help us bring Langan’s back to its rightful place at the centre of Mayfair.”

Less is known about the food and whether similar attention has been paid to the menu in 2021. Time will tell.
