An American-style diner with singing and dancing waiting staff is set to open on Shaftesbury Avenue this summer.
The Theatre Café Diner will be a ‘full theatrical dining experience like no other,’ an announcement said, where guests will be serenaded by staff as they tuck into ‘high quality’ diner classics. West End musical brunches and live performances from stars of the stage are also on the cards.
The walls will be covered in theatrical memorabilia, in a Hard Rock Café sort of style by the sounds of it. The market for pre-theatre dining is there, as is the intention here to capture it.
Theatrical dining experiences are popular in London, with the likes of The Windmill, Park Chinois, and Boisdale in demand currently.
Joe Davey, founder of The Theatre Café, said: ‘I am so excited to be launching in the West End. It’s been a tough few years for our industry, so we are delighted that The Theatre Cafe brand is expanding.
‘The Theatre Cafe has grown so much from its beginnings as a family ticketing business, and we are delighted to be seen as a key beacon within the theatre industry.’
