
Events Catering Manager, Garden Café at the Garden Museum
EVENTS CATERING MANAGER (Permanent Contract)
Working Pattern & Salary: 3 Core “Office” days per week (9-5): £18,000 per annum,
plus
Events Management (eves & weekends): £17 per hour
Responsible For: Successfully promoting, growing bookings, effectively organizing and being the on-site Manager at private venue-hire events at the Museum, that are catered for by our own Garden Café, to ensure their smooth delivery.
Location: The Garden Museum, Lambeth, London, SE1 7LB
About You:
We’d love to hear from you if you have worked in restaurants and have the experience, passion, organizational flair and personal flexibility to deliver amazing in-house catered events for clients from concept to the occasion: private dining, parties, wedding receptions, bespoke occasions etc
The Ideal Candidate:
Will have solid Restaurant Events experience, demonstrated by a strong track record of successfully booking and delivering Events, ranging from canapé receptions to celebration dinners.
Strong communication & Interpersonal skills – able to build & maintain effective working relationships
Highly organized, with an eye for detail
Impeccable presentation skills
A good understanding of food, ingredients, menus and the workings of a commercial kitchen
The Role:
To ensure organised and successful, collaborative working with the Head Chef, Venue Hire Team and Café Management/staff to deliver a catering offer, which reflects the quality, ethos and style of the Garden Cafe – in tone, feel and service.
Meeting with clients, managing enquiries and promoting and developing our Catered Venue Hire offer and bookings
Enhance internal systems for managing the bookings, resource and equipment supply and delivery, communicating with café, kitchen, external suppliers and wider museum team to ensure event space and booking requirements are met.
Meeting sales and gross profit targets and managing budgets for cafe-catered events, and where possible more environmentally sustainable.
To enhance the presentation of the catering offer – brochure, menus & customer journey.
The role reports into the Director of Commercial and Operations

Opened in June 2017, the Garden Café was reviewed by Jay Rayner as ‘one of the loveliest new spaces to open in the capital in a long while and boasting food to match’. In 2018 it was judged the best Museum restaurant in the world by Leading Cultural Venues. Set within a garden designed by Dan Pearson, it is unique in London in being part of a Museum, but also a dining destination in its own right, headed up by our amazing Chef, Myles Donaldson, our menus reflects the ethos of the Museum: contemporary, authentic, and original with an emphasis upon the honesty of materials.
