Calling all aspiring Rotters! Do you want to taste the best wines in the world every day? Do you want to be part of our world class training programme? Do you want to join a team of enthusiastic wine lovers? If the answer is yes, read on.

    Bartender (Trainee Sommelier)

Bartender is where most of our Sommeliers start their Noble Rot journey. The Bartender is responsible for organising and dispensing the wines from our daily changing, 60-bin ‘by the glass’ menu and as such, is constantly tasting and learning about wine and the producers on our list.

You should be passionate about expanding your knowledge of wine and be motivated to use it as a tool for providing warm hospitality.

You will be excited by producers featured in our wine lists and Magazine, demonstrated by an ability to discuss them by name and share what makes them special.

This is a position well suited for both those with a deep knowledge of the wines on our list but little restaurant service experience as well as those with good service experience but that are at the beginning of their wine adventure. It’s the first step on the Bartender > Sommelier > Senior Sommelier pathway at Noble Rot.

    Work somewhere exceptional

Noble Rot started out as a magazine about wine, food and the creative arts in 2013, before opening restaurants in Bloomsbury in 2015, Soho in 2020 and Mayfair in 2023. The restaurants have been awarded Best Wine List of the Year at the National Restaurant Awards 5 times.

With the extensive in-house training programme, sponsored external WSET training and opportunities to taste the best wines in the world every day, Noble Rot is undoubtedly one of the best places to learn about wine. If you have your sights on a career in wine this is the perfect next step.

    Benefits

    Noble Rot Bartenders receive:

    • Training on new wines, twice a day.
    • A new blind bottle to taste at the end of each day.
    • Internal fine wine training programme held throughout the year (recent sessions include: Fine wine in the Languedoc, Haut-Brion & The Birth of Single Estate Wine)
    • A regular calendar of in house visits from winemakers and industry leaders.
    • Opportunities to visit wineries throughout the UK for pruning, harvest and tastings.
    • External wine training including WSET wine qualifications (including Diploma & Educator Programme) & Master of Wine.
    • You decide your weekly hours with most people deciding to join on 6 shifts/45hrs per week (£37’000 – £39’000 pa) or 7 shifts/50hrs per week (£41’000 – £43’000 pa) (tronc inclusive).
    • Industry leading rates of pay with all tronc returned to staff.
    • Fully paid breaks & holidays (basic & tronc for every hour)
    • Paid overtime (basic & tronc for every hour)
    • Discounted wine & 50% off food when eating in at any Noble Rot.
    • Company pension.
    • A wide range of career development opportunities.
    • A rota written 3 weeks in advance to give you time to plan your life.
    • 28 days holiday that includes service charge.
