Hospitality is built on inventiveness, fortitude, and resilience. It is an industry made up of some of the most hardworking, creative and passionate people, and it is these people who provide the insight and sentiment that helped us form this year’s Happiness in Hospitality report.
This year, our report considers why people move into the sector, and their experiences within it. To collate it, we conducted our biggest survey to date and asked more than 700 industry professionals why they work in hospitality to glean insight and sentiment from one of Britain’s biggest and most dynamic sectors.
We draw on topics such as diversity and inclusivity, pay, staff retention, career progression, and the perception of hospitality as an industry. From this, we ask experts to provide analysis, with Hawksmoor co-founder Will Beckett, restaurateur and broadcaster Asma Khan, and UKHospitality CEO Kate Nicholls among an unparalleled list of contributors.
We also offer our own recommendations and solutions as we look to improve wellbeing and wellness in the trade.
Hospitality has always been vital to economic recovery – in part, thanks to quick, resourceful and exciting jobs, without the need for qualifications – and so a happy industry is needed more than ever.
We hope our annual report proves to be a useful tool for both employers and employees and serves as a catalyst to create positive change within the industry.
