Indiana Rossi, wine buyer & GM of The Good Wine Shop
As we get ready to launch CODE’s 30 under 30 class of 2022/23, wine buyer & multi-site GM of The Good Wine Shop Indiana Rossi discusses her inclusion in 2022’s list.
What did the 30 under 30 class of 2022 feature mean to you?
It was surprising and truly uplifting. The experience felt like a pat on the back from the industry… a little, ‘we see you and your work’. The inclusion made me feel like I’m part of a community and showed me contributing is recognised.
How has your career changed/developed since your inclusion in the list?
The exposure helped me get onto the radar of more industry leaders and put my name out there, which has helped me land bigger roles and has sent more opportunities my way.
How do you see the future of the industry for 2023 and beyond?
2022 has been a hard and strange year for hospitality. From staff shortages, supply chain nightmares and the cost-of-living crisis, we have been in the middle of a perfect storm for most of the year. 2023 is going to be interesting as we wait to see if things will settle – if we might get a glimpse of stability.
I think the future of hospitality is uncertain but bright, especially here in the UK where we are seeing so many exciting openings and concepts.
I think we are at a point where we’ve endured so much in the past three years – we’ve all become more agile and receptive to change, allowing for faster adaptations in the system itself. I also see more inclusivity in front/back of house, better working hours and healthier work environments. The importance of mental health has come to the fore.
There are a lot of challenges but we’re a tough bunch and we’ll make it work.
Indiana Rossi featured in our 30 under 30 class of 2022. CODE’s 30 under 30 class of 2022/23 list will be announced on Wednesday 7 December.
