There’s been a flurry of new, exciting openings since lockdown ended (again), but it’s always good to hear what industry favourites are up to. Mayfair institution The Guinea Grill has just announced the launch of the ‘Guinea Express’, a pop-up across just across the road from the pub.
In response to the high demand for tables in the run up to Christmas, Guinea Express is taking over the former Pizza Express site, making room for an additional 60 covers over the festive period and helping to keep the business afloat. “To keep a large team, keep the chefs busy and make sure we can take as many reservations as possible, it’s a really good solution to keep the business somewhat profitable and sustain it through the pandemic” says landlord Oisín Rogers.
Luckily for the many Guinea Grill fans amongst us, the experience will be almost exactly the same. The full a la carte menu and wine list will be on offer at the Guinea Express, including the signature Sunday roast and steaks, as well as the option to book a table just for bar snacks (or a famous Scotch egg).
“We are absolutely delighted to have this space so we can safely welcome more guests to our little pub, whether they want pints and bar snacks with their bubble or the full festive blow-out, including Christmas Day lunch” says Rogers. A very merry Christmas indeed!
