Duddell’s London Bridge closes after two years

Published 24 October 2019

The fine-dining Cantonese restaurant Duddell’s has closed its doors after two years in the capital. In 2017, Duddell’s London became the first restaurant in the Duddell’s brand to open outside of Hong Kong, where it was originally founded in 2013.

The restaurant was set in St Thomas’ Church in London Bridge. A spokesperson for Duddell’s stated that the closure is a result of planning and technical challenges with the Grade II listed church. The restaurant group believes this prevented them from realising its full potential and Cantonese culinary vision in the capital.

In a statement released on the 23 October, the restaurant stated they were planning to relocate to a new west end location, with the development team targeting Mayfair. Details of their relocation will be announced in due course.

Both the Michelin-starred restaurant and the casual dining location at Hong Kong airport remain open as usual.
