The group behind Northcote, The Game Bird and Norma has announced the details of its latest venture: Gallio marks the group’s first entry to the casual dining market.
Gallio will initially launch in mid-August with a delivery-only kitchen in south east London, with plans to open a restaurant in central London and a further three delivery kitchens by end 2021.
Pizza is the focus of the Mediterranean menu, developed with chef and culinary director of The Stafford and Norma Ben Tish, with sharing bowls, salads and desserts also on offer. It claims its nutritious signature base is what will set the pizza apart, made on-site and left to prove for 36 hours to create a crispy, thin base. Diners can pick from a variety of Mediterranean toppings, including spiced lamb, rose harissa with pickled chilli, fennel salami and aged manchego.
A seasonal special will also be available, starting with a Sicilian-inspired red prawn pizza with grezzina courgettes, red chilli and wild fennel. Pizzas start from £6, and small and large salads from £4 and £7 respectively. Two desserts complete the menu: a sweet pizza topped with fig, mascarpone, honey and toasted walnuts or a chocolate almond cake.
“We have worked hard on a menu that truly reflects the diverse, vibrant and wholesome flavours of The Med” says Chantal Nell of Doma Hospitality. She adds “after an unprecedented few months for London and the UK, the demand for freshly prepared, nutritious and delicious food has never been higher and we are confident our ‘feel good’ food and ‘better for you’ pizza will resonate with our consumers.”
Gallio will offer delivery via Deliveroo within a radius that includes Lambeth, Waterloo, Vauxhall, South Bank and Southwark. To find out more, visit the website here
