There’s the Armani Café & Restaurant in Milan, Prada’s Marchesi 1824 tea shop in Mayfair, a Bulgari Hotel in Kensington… and now Gucci is making its mark in the hospitality world once more, with the opening of its third restaurant. Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura is a contemporary Italian restaurant in Tokyo, scheduled to launch in the Ginza district later this year.
A collaboration between the fashion brand and the fabled chef-proprietor of Osteria Francescana, Massimo Bottura, the restaurant will be on the top floor of Gucci Namiki – its latest flagship store. It joins the original Gucci Osteria in Florence – which was awarded its first Michelin star last year – and a Los Angeles output which opened in February 2020. We’ll wait and see whether London is next on their list…
Further details about the food and menu are yet to be announced, but if its other restaurants are anything to go by, guests can expect upmarket pizza, pasta and parmigiana. The interiors will be contemporary and will celebrate Tokyo’s “varied and unique identity with creativity, elegance, playfulness and sensuality.” We’re not entirely sure what that means in reality, but we look forward to finding out.
