It’s now clear that outdoor dining will be able to open at least a month before indoor hospitality, so restaurants have started to plan ahead. Allegra’s rooftop terrace at The Stratford is definitely something to look forward to, and now the team has announced the launch of pop-up Happy Burger.
Launching on 15 April, chef Patrick Powell has created a fun, more casual menu than guests are used to. “Once it was announced restaurants with outdoor areas could reopen in April, it seemed like a great opportunity to do something different until we’re back operating fully again,” says Powell. Menu highlights include an Oklahoma-style ‘happy burger’, fried chicken with aioli and pickles and oysters, alongside sides such as fried potatoes with beef chilli.
Hoping to support London restaurants without outdoor dining, the team will also be teaming up with chefs across the capital to create five-course menus. First up is Ben Marks and Matt Emerson of Perilla, followed by Mangal 2’s Sertac and Ferhat Dirik. Sebastian Myers, previously of P Franco, will be seeing a sneak preview of his new restaurant and wine bar Planque launching this summer. Finally, AngloThai’s John and Dizz Chantarasak will join the line-up on 9 May.
Happy Burger at Allegra will operate Thursday to Sunday from 4pm, and there will be beers on tap, seasonal cocktails and sangria pitchers available all-day. Now we just need to hope for good weather.
