One of the breakout success stories of this year, Hot 4 U burst onto the scene during the first lockdown with its quirky food and weekly-changing menu. Set up by St John alumni Eddy Tejeda and Cub’s Matthew Scott, the duo has now announced the launch of their first permanent residency at The Plough in Hackney.
The news follows successful residencies at Carousel, Chicken Shop and 4850 in Amsterdam and will continue to showcase the pair’s commitment to zero waste and high quality produce. If you’ve eaten their food before, you’ll recognise their distinctive cooking style. Dishes on the week one menu include chicken offal skewer with smoked mayo, halibut head with preserved lemon and its interesting signature bone marrow whisky luge: hard liquor to be drunk down a rich meaty flume.
We like the sound of the Sunday roast with a twist, too. There’s garlic butter chicken supreme, hay aged celeriac or aged beef sirloin with all the trimmings. Panettone tiramisu and buttermilk pannacotta are on offer for dessert.
With Hot 4 U now open, we look forward to visiting and seeing what they get up to in their new home.
