It’s no secret that the hospitality industry has been hit particularly hard by disjointed decision making during the pandemic. An industry responsible for 5 million jobs and generating a £130bn contribution to the economy, it has become more clear than ever that hospitality needs a voice in government.
Seat at the Table, backed by a group of hospitality professionals including Robin Hutson, Tom Kerridge and Angela Hartnett, are trying to achieve just that by starting a campaign to create a Minister for Hospitality in the UK Government.
As someone with a deep understanding of the industry, a dedicated minister would be the champion and guardian of hospitality in parliament, promoting the importance of the economic, social and employment contribution, drive strategy and advance the status of the industry.
This would be a monumental step for the hospitality industry, yet a petition asking for a Minister for Hospitality currently has less than half of the required 100,000 signatures to be debated in parliament.
You can make your voice heard by singing the petition here.
