The Michelin Guide offers an always interesting insight into restaurants that are perhaps less formal but always interesting and packed with talent with its Bib Gourmands. This year was no exception – thank goodness – and it was good to hear that 16 new names receive the accolade.
In London, these are Peckham Cellars in south London – whose co-founder Luke West-Whylie was featured in this year’s 30 under 30, Legare and Flor – both in Southwark, plus Soho’s Volta do Mar, Paradise, Mo Diner and Fallow, also in this year’s 30 under 30.
Across England, the Kentish Hare, Stag & Hounds, The Square and The Royal were all awarded Bibs, as were Noto in Scotland and Volpe Nera, Goldie, Spitalfields and Table Forty One in the Republic of Ireland.
Meanwhile a new category of Green Stars for restaurants which put sustainability at their heart is a timely addition to the ceremony – and many of our most exciting restaurants received the award. It goes without saying that we can’t wait to visit all of this year’s winners as soon as we’re able: huge congratulations to them all.
