Notting Hill restaurant Orasay is to close on New Year’s Eve. Chef-founder Jackson Boxer said he plans to relaunch the space as a new, more casual restaurant next year, moving away from a seafood-led menu focusing on catch from UK day boats. Boxer conceded Orasay, which opened in 2019 to solid reviews, was ‘never a very lucrative business’. He said: ‘We specialised in working with a fragile and elusive product that needs a great deal of labour to prepare, and though we’re busier than we’ve ever been in terms of guests through the door, those guests have considerably less freedom to spend than perhaps they once did, and as such, being unable to raise prices, and being unwilling to work with a cheaper and inferior product, we have decided to imagine a bold new future for ourselves in quite another direction.’ No details yet on what the new restaurant will look like, though Boxer said he has a good sense of what it will be and added he’s ‘very excited to return to Notting Hill.’
The chef Adam Byatt has revealed plans for a neighbourhood restaurant next to Fulham Football Club. Brasserie Constance will open in spring 2025 on the first floor of the new Fulham Pier development behind Craven Cottage, with a British menu based around ‘approachable, seasonal dishes’. Also on the way is a riverside cocktail bar and small plates venue called Flo. Byatt, whose lauded Clapham restaurant Trinity turns 20 in 2026, said of the project: ‘Having lived in Fulham for several years during my early career, it is an exciting full-circle moment to be bringing Brasserie Constance to life within such a landmark destination. Fulham Pier offers the perfect setting to showcase the very best of British dining, surrounded by stunning views of the Thames. I look forward to welcoming guests to this new space in 2025.’
