In what feels like a long season of award ceremonies celebrating the best of hospitality around the world, AA held its virtual award ceremony on Wednesday. Forest Side in Cumbria, Mana in Manchester, and Tuddenham Mill in Newmarket were awarded four rosettes, and a further 16 restaurants were awarded three.
AA awards four rosettes to “the top restaurants in the UK, where the cooking demands national recognition, and exhibit intense ambition, a passion for excellence, superb technical skills, and remarkable consistency.”
Three rosettes are awarded to “outstanding restaurants that achieve standards that demand recognition well beyond their local area, with the cooking underpinned by the selection and sympathetic treatment of the highest quality ingredients.”
The list of restaurants awarded with three rosettes is below…
Forty-eight restaurants in the UK hold four rosettes while only 18 – The Fat Duck, L’Enclume, Moor Hall, Casamia, and Hélène Darroze at The Connaught to name a few – hold the highest amount of five.
On the awards, managing director at AA Media Simon Numphud said: “As the hospitality sector reopens after a challenging year, it is an honour to be able to recognise those restaurants achieving the highest levels of gastronomic excellence. All 2021 rosette winners deserve to be celebrated, with each one demonstrating the exceptional culinary standards being offered to diners across the country.”
The AA have awarded rosettes since 1956, and it was the first nationwide scheme for assessing the quality of food served by restaurants and hotels.
