Restaurant and wine bar Noble Rot has announced plans to open in Soho in Spring 2020. Owned by Mark Andrew and Dan Keeling, Noble Rot Soho marks the second opening for the pair who have enjoyed huge success at their first site on Lamb’s Conduit Street since November 2015.
The restaurant and wine bar will take over the historic Hungarian restaurant Gay Hussar, which shut its doors on 21 June 2018. A Greek Street landmark for over 60 years, with patrons including Sir Michael Parkinson and T.S Eliot, and even the rumoured location of Margaret Thatcher’s planned downfall, Noble Rot Soho will breath life back into the famous site.
As with their current restaurant, the menu will be designed by chef Paul Weaver, alongside The Sportman’s Stephen Harris and will feature subtle odes to The Gay Hussar’s glory days. The owners plan to create an atmospheric restaurant at the forefront of London’s culinary scene, without losing sight of the location’s scandalous past.
Commenting on the opening, the owners note ‘we love the beautiful early 18th century building that houses our original bar and restaurant in Lambs Conduit St. With the arrival in sprint 2020 of Noble Rot Soho, we couldn’t be more excited that we’ll be able to show the same love to one of London’s most famous restaurants and meeting places’.
