Pasta favourite Padella to launch second site next week

Published 6 February 2020

Pasta fans rejoice: the opening of Padella’s second Shoreditch site is just around the corner. Padella Borough Market opened in 2016 and has been attracting the crowds ever since. On 13 February, the team officially launch their second pasta bar on Phipp Street in Shoreditch – so get ready for cacio e pepe, Italian aperitivi and undoubtedly longer queues than ever.

Co-founded by Tim Siadatan and Jordan Frieda, Guests can expect much of the same from the second site, including freshly hand-rolled pasta every morning in the restaurant window. The pasta bar will feature an open kitchen alongside a bar area and counter seating. Padella will continue to operate a no reservations policy and use the app Walk In to manage the queue online.

Padella Shoreditch will continue to serve simple antipasti, pasta dishes and the choice of three classic puddings. Dishses include pappardelle with 8 hours Dexter beef shin ragu and fettuccine with Cobble Lane cured nduja, mascarpone and lemon.

The interiors of the 65-cover restaurant take lead from the functional design of Borough Market, with marble continuing to be a key feature. Padella’s existing bakery, currently located in Borough market, will also move to the new space in Shoreditch.

“We hand roll over 700 portions of pasta every day, serving fresh pasta dishes with traditionally made sauces using only the best seasonal British and European ingredients we can get our hands on” say Siadatan and Frieda. They add “We cut no corners – whether it’s baking our own bread and tarts, churning our own ice cream or hand filling our ravioli. We’re a fast-paced, fun restaurant and have a feeling that the Shoreditch community will take to it…fingers crossed!”

Padella Shoreditch opens on 13 February at Phipp Street, Workspace, The Frames. For more information, visit the website here
