The team behind Peckham Cellars will open a new wine bar in Camberwell early next year.
Helen Hall, Luke West-Whylie, and Ben McVeigh will open Little Cellars on Camberwell Church Street, home to the Camberwell Arms, Silk Road, Nandine, Frog Bakery and, soon, the second iteration of Forza Win.
Little Cellars will serve old and new world wines by the glass alongside bar snacks and sharing plates from Peckham Cellars’ new head chef Pablo Urain Alfonso.
The space, a corner unit, is currently undergoing a renovation, and will launch with 40 covers split between an indoor space and outside terrace.
The trio have also acquired the adjacent property, which they will launch as the ‘Cellar Next Door’ bottle shop, with a 25 cover basement tasting room that will also act as the hub for their online wine delivery business.
Helen said: ‘We’ve had our eye on the site in Camberwell for some time, after spotting it last year.
‘We knew we wanted to grow the business and open a second site and ideally somewhere in south east London again, as we’ve built up such a loyal customer base here with Peckham Cellars (once the licencing application went in with our names on it we immediately began receiving DMs and emails from eagle-eyed locals excited to find out when we would be opening!), so it made sense for us to look into options not too far from Peckham.
‘Once we’d put in our initial offer for the Camberwell site, we were then offered the space next door which connects via the basements under the two buildings, which was a complete stroke of luck’.
Good news for Camberwell.
