One of London’s foremost bastions of the gourmet sandwich renaissance, Sons + Daughters, will open a second site in Borough Market next month.
The second from the group is set to launch in the old 26 Grains site on Stoney Street between September 14-19, with a menu made up of old favourites and new creations.
Co-founder James Ramsden told CODE that the team will be ‘bringing in more of a grab and go aspect to the new S+D, in keeping with the general vibe of the market’. The new shop will make the most of the produce at Borough and there will be a monthly special, paying homage to seasonality.
The more regular sandwiches to feature will be ‘frequently changing and fun’, meanwhile, continuing the inventiveness the original sandwich shop in Coal Drops Yard.
On the menu to begin? A smoked salmon brioche with old bayonnaise, crispy capers, and pickled fennel; a club(ish) sandwich of chicken, bacon, smoked tomato, gem lettuce and tahini ranch; and a goat’s curd and pickled beetroot bocadillo with roast pumpkin seeds and fermented raspberry hot sauce.
All sound very promising indeed. Much like the original S+D, there will also be salads, snacks, soft serve ice cream, coffees, wines and cocktails on offer.
