The old American Embassy on Grosvenor Square has been sitting vacant for a while, but it won’t be empty for much longer. It’s been announced that it will be the site of Rosewood’s second hotel in London: The Chancery Rosewood.
From the group behind Rosewood London – where we celebrated our 30 under 30 event early last year – The Chancery Rosewood will now undergo renovation before opening in 2024. There’s not much work being done to the exterior of the Grade II listed building, which originally opened in 1960. The interiors are getting an upgrade, though, as French architect Joseph Dirand is aiming for an ‘Art Deco’ vibe and is ‘channelling the ambience of a traditional British gentlemen’s club.”
It’s set to be a big opening, complete with 139 guest rooms and suites, five shops, a ballroom big enough for 750 people and – what we’re most interested in – a selection of new restaurants. There’s no word on chefs or partnerships just yet, but we’ll let you know when we find out.
The hotel will mark Rosewood’s sixth in Europe, and forms part of a wider renovation of Grosvenor Square. To find out more, visit the website here
