If you follow The Wolseley on Instagram, you’ll be familiar with the restaurant aesthetic, one built on early eggs and even earlier champagne. Breakfast has always been The Wolseley’s most endearing and famous offering. Graceful omelettes have long been favoured by London’s dining elite.
But since Jeremy King’s removal from the company, which happened in the haze of Minor International’s takeover, many of Corbin & King’s loyal following has vocalised its grievance and vowed not to return.
Posturing? The Wolseley’s first breakfast Instagram post since the takeover has seen an overwhelmingly negative reaction.
The caption of the post reads, “Breakfast at @thewolseley is always a treat.” Still true, we suppose. But treats aren’t always worth it.
While there were also some ordinary and positive comments, the reaction raises a question about the longevity of the brand, and how many regulars will come through those doors again.
