We better get used to virtual events as part of this ‘new normal’ we’re experiencing at the moment – including the annual list of the World’s 50 Best Bars which will be announced as part of a virtual awards ceremony on 5 November. Sponsored by Perrier, the list will be voted for by an academy of more than 540 experts worldwide.
With the aim of bringing the bar community closer together and offer positive news as bars recover from the impact of the pandemic, the announcements this year include a rising star award, an award for a bar pushing the boundaries and one for the single best hospitality experience.
Sponsored by Perrier, the list will be voted for by an academy of over 540 experts worldwide. The bars ranked 51st to 100th will also be announced on the website a week before the virtual awards ceremony.
“We strongly believe that the announcement of The World’s 50 Best Bars 2020 will provide a focal point and stimulus for bars as they enter the next stage of recovery” says content editor Mark Sansom. “It’s also important to recognise the passion, creativity and craft that has seen so many through this harrowing period and usher in some much-needed positivity as guests seek to return to outstanding bars.”
The announcement follows on from the 50 Best for Recovery programme, an initiative which provided grants to 236 businesses from 53 countries totalling $1.24 million to date following fundraising efforts.
