The iconic Edwardian building at 1 Aldwych was first home to the Morning Post newspaper when it opened in 1907 but for the past two decades its grandeur has been the setting for the elegant One Aldwych hotel. One of our favourite ways to enjoy it is in the Lobby Bar with its lofty ceilings, Art Nouveau interiors and towering displays of seasonal blooms. As you gaze through the imposing arched windows overlooking the bustle of Aldwych, sip on a perfectly crafted gin fizz to take you back in time.
If you choose a cocktail with honey, know that the sweet nectar comes directly from the beehives kept on the building’s rooftop. The bee-friendly sanctuary up there was designed with the River of Flowers charity which helps to bring more wildflowers to urban landscapes.
